In a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, the debtor is looking to come up with an affordable and reasonable monthly payment to help repay back creditors. This is why Chapter 13 is also called a “reorganization bankruptcy”, or even a “wage earner’s bankruptcy.” Another benefit of filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy is that it can be used to temporarily stop foreclosures on homes and the repossession of vehicles with what is known as an “automatic stay.” Depending on how long you have owned your car, we may even be able to lower the total amount owed on the vehicle.
